At Wheel Repair Scotland we carry out all our wheel refurbishment & repairs inhouse using the latest state of the art machinery, ensuring we can supply a high quality repair service with a fast turnaround.
Firstly the car is brought in with few options 1. car is placed on axle stands 2. car is driven on to a ramp 3. we can provide courtesy wheels to keep you mobile while your wheels are left with us for diamond cut refurbishment 4. shop wheels are fitted the car is driven outside then back in at closing time, all vehicles are kept indoors overnight. After this your wheels are removed from the car using the correct tools, the tyres are then taken off using our advanced hands free tyre machine to ensure no damage is done to the tyre or alloy wheel.
Once the tyres have been removed we evaluate the damage & corrosion on the wheels, deep kerbing/gouging can result in alloy wheels requiring welding work. They will then be placed on the wheel balancer checking for any buckled alloy wheels as this can cause problems while driving & to ensure the wheel is safe for the road we assess for any cracked alloy wheels.
The wheels are then placed in our alloy wheel stripping tank to remove all existing paint/powder coat from the wheels bringing them back to bare metal to insure a long lasting wheel refurbishment. After this we then remove any damage necessary before powder coating the wheels, we then place the wheels inside our media blasting machine leaving a perfectly clean & keyed wheel ready for powder coat & paint.
Next the wheels are set in an oven at high temperature for 1-2 hours this is called degassing & helps eliminate impurities in the metal, after this the powder coating application of primer is done then baked to cure. Once out the oven colour is then applied this can be done with powder coating or paint for OEM colour matching.
We then apply powder coat clear or wet spray clear coat to the alloy wheels, clear coat comes in different gloss levels, satin & matte finishes available in powder coat or wet spray whichever the customer prefers.
The wheels quality checked & then left to cool down, when the wheels are at room temperature we refit the tyres with extra care not to damage the freshly refurbished alloy wheels. Tyres are blown up to correct pressure for the car, wheels are then balanced with our laser precision wheel balancer to have highly accurate balanced wheels with powder coated wheel weights.
We then refit the refurbished diamond cut wheels to the car with extra care, once back on the ground the wheel bolts are then torqued with the manufactures settings for road safety. Car is now ready for collection leaving with a full alloy wheel refurbishment.
